While there are not much updates in tech market (I am not a big fan of
Intel, so I am unconcerned about IDF), I come up a list of long awaited products
that will be rolled out in mid-late 2003.
- new Powerbook 15' - Airport Extreme, Bluetooth and anodized Aluminium coating,
of course. - IBM PPC 970 - Will Apple adopt it? More rumors confirm this. Another interesting
thing is IBM will build blade server using this chip, avaiable in Q3. - More 802.11g products - there will be a finialized version from IEEE in June/July.
- AMD Opteron - Released on April 22. Don't know how it will go.
- Linux kernel 2.6 - improved I/O, scheduler and VM,
POSIX-compatible thread library, scalable SMP, HyperThreading-aware. Conclusion:
a road to enterprise system.
