NPTL wins over NGPT

Linux
NGPT
open source project
announced
a change of direction and the project will now go into support
mode.
A year or so before, NGPT is a very promising project to bring POSIX thread
implementation to Linux. It made thread library highly scalable and POSIX compliance.
However, NPTL
had
changed the thing around. With the support of Redhat and their
hacker employees Ulrich Drepper and Ingo Molnar, it
proved
to be a good and decent
thread library over others alternatives. NGPT is now in 2.5 development kernel
and will be a default thread library in next Linux Kernel 2.6/3.0 release.
