Pionner DVR-K11 with Mac OS X 10.2.8
After Software Update to 10.2.8 on my iBook last Saturday, my slim
DVD writer cannot be able to burn CD anymore. Apple Profiler shows
that this drive is unsupported for burning, that means 10.2.8 installation overwrites my hacked version from the previously working 10.2.6. Luckily, there is a utility called
PatchBurn that is used to turn your unsupport drive into supported one.
This tool shows up the installed writer and a list all supported writer drivers in
your systems. You can select the existing driver you want to patch your
unsupported writer. Since DVR-K11 is from Pioneer, I found the closely
matched one, DVR-103, to patch. Please note that once it was patched the existing driver (DVR-103) will not be able to work anymore.
So the safest way is to make a backup before you patch.
After rebooting OS X, Apple Profiler shows burning is now supported, and of
course, buring from iTunes and Finder is no problem now.
