Linux Live CD - Knoppix and Morphix
I am currently investigating how to make the Linux LiveCD. Base on the LiveCD technique I have learned, I would like to make a Server LiveCD such as the one offered by m0n0wall - a FreeBSD firewall.
Knoppix should be one of the most famous fathers of Linux LiveCD. While another Knoppix variant, Morphix, is a modular approach to build customized LiveCD. I have tried both, with Morphix first, than Knoppix. I found that Morphix is very easy to customize a LiveCD. On the other hand, Knoppix is not too far away. The most difficult part is to remove huge ammount of unnecessary packages from its 2GB uncompressed image.
While I am customizing my own LiveCD, I found some LiveCD distros for server/AP uses.
- ZoneCD from publicip.net, based on Morphix
- Less Hotspot Server - from lessnetworks.com, RedHat-based
I am in-progress to make my own LiveCD - Voyage Linux. Stay tune in punknix.com for my first Linux distro!
