My use of GMail

A month ago I got an gmail invitation from Mac community user. Although 1GB e-mail solution did not impress me very much, I can think of the other use of this high capcity email account - mailing list.

Previously I used personal e-mail account on punknix.com for all mailing subscriptions. Typically, I received 50 messages everyday. As, I used Thunderbird to access this email account, the management of the mailing list message is quite easy. One of the doubt for me to switch to GMail is the usablity.

Luckily that, GMail already provides all I need. GMail organized messages by thread, so I can traced every discussion easily. Moreover, it allows me to use "j"/"k" key to natvigate the conversation thread, something same as using "n" to read next message. In addition, GMail shows conversation thread in one page and only the unread messages are shown up. On the other hand, it only shows each read message of the same thread in one-line only. This one-line information indeed includes sender, few starting words of the message and message recieve time.

I started to like GMail. Its intuitive design is unique to other web-mail services and is a big credit for GMail. I think the other webmail providers should focus on the usability innovation rather than just offering larger storage. GMail, indeed, starts providing big mail storage, but I end-up found that google in the company to change the way for what we do in the internet life.
