What to expect in MacWorld SF '05?

As MacWorld in coming, there are many rumors floating around in the net about the new product announcement from Apple. Based on the rumors gathered from macrumors.com and thinksecret.com. We would expect the following products will be announced in MWSF 05 held on 11 Jan.

  • iPod Flash
  • $500 - $600 "headless" G4 iMac
  • iLife '05, updates for iPhotos, iDVD, iMovies and GarageBand
  • iWorks '05, including Keynote 2 and a new Word processing application called Pages
  • Asteroids, music hardware for GarageBand
The most stunning news to me is the headless G4 iMac and iWorks. The former has a smaller form factor with its height similiar to 1.25 inches Xserves. It is believed that Apple will market the new Mac with outstanding software features more than hardware capability. With G4 processor and monitor-less, it allows more cost cutting on the new Mac. The afforable price range ($500-600) will also enable existing PC users to try the new Mac as their secondary PC as well.

Another hot application would be Pages, the long-awaited Word Processor product. It is expected that Pages would integrate spreadsheet functionality as well. It will be bundled in iWorks '05, which is believed to replace AppleWorks. Along side with the soon-to-be released Keynote 2, it makes iWorks '05 a highly attractive product. In addition, if iWorks is shipped with new headless iMac, it would be a attractive offering, especially for new Mac users.
